This is a gorgeous little Ammonite slice
Found in the Ardeche region of France and dating from the Lower Jurassic period - roughly 200-180 Million Years ago
The slice shows the stunning pyritisation where the original fossil walls have been replaced by a metallic substance - iron pyrite
This gives the Ammonite a gorgeous shimmering metallic sheen that is hard to see in the image but VERY easy to enjoy when in the hand.
You wont receive this exact slice but one very similar measuring around 2cm - 3cm across and it will come nicely boxed and labelled and would make a superb gift for any fossil fan.
These are rare Ammonites and this is the first one I have EVER offered in nearly ten years of selling fossils.
