An extraordinary and highly unusual piece of modern history, this is a genuine fragment of Trinitite — atomic bomb glass formed during the first nuclear explosion.
This material was created at the Trinity test site in New Mexico, USA, on 16th July 1945, when the world’s first atomic bomb was detonated. The immense heat of the blast melted the desert sand, forming a distinctive green glass now known as Trinitite.
Each piece represents a direct physical connection to one of the most significant moments in human history — the beginning of the nuclear age.
Trinitite typically has a smooth glassy surface on one side and a more natural, sandy texture on the other, formed as molten material cooled rapidly after the explosion.
Material like this is now increasingly difficult to obtain. Most available specimens were collected in the years immediately following the test, and collecting from the site is no longer permitted — making genuine pieces both scarce and highly collectable.
Each fragment is completely unique in shape, texture and colour — a small but powerful artefact of science, history and rarity.
