An incredible and highly unusual piece of modern history, this is a genuine fragment of Trinitite — atomic bomb glass formed during the first nuclear explosion.
This material was created at the Trinity test site in New Mexico, USA, on 16th July 1945, when the world’s first atomic bomb was detonated. The immense heat of the blast fused the desert sand into a green glass-like substance now known as Trinitite.
Each piece represents a direct physical link to one of the most significant events in human history — the beginning of the nuclear age.
Trinitite typically has a smooth, glassy upper surface and a more natural, sandy underside, formed as molten material cooled rapidly after the explosion.
Most of the material was collected in the years following the test, and collecting from the site is now no longer permitted, making genuine pieces increasingly difficult to obtain and highly sought after by collectors.
Each fragment is completely unique in shape, colour and texture — a small but powerful artefact of science, history and rarity.
