This Philippinite Tektite was supplied by a world renowned expert in Tektites ( Aubrey Whymark) who has access to a supply of these beautful objects
While tektites are readily available from China and Thailand - Philippinites are not as easy to source and there are far fewer on the market
Philippinites - also known as Rizalites and sub-type Bicolites are medial distance tektites formed in the Australasian impact event +/- 788,000 years ago
The source impact crater is likely around 43km in diameter and buried in the Gulf of Tonkin
This specimen would have been ejected around 1650 from the impact crater, travelling at around 3.8km / second and concentrated in ejecta rays.
The specimen you will receive will be the exact one pictured and it weighs 11.88 GRAMS
and measures 2.3cm across at its widest point
You will receive it boxed and labelled and also receive a full colour information sheet written by the supplier and Tektite expert Aubrey Whymark.
This is a lovely accompaniment to this rare sample and the knowledge it imparts willl add to the value of the specimen.
