I am guessing that very few of you will be familiar with Fordite.
Fordite is a beautiful substance, but neither natural nor old.
It is actually built-up paint residue from the paint-shops at Ford car plants.

It really is the most beautiful substance, and when cut and polished it reveals the coloured layers of paint that have built up on the floors and walls of the paint shop.

I must point out that this really is a rare and sought after substance
I bought a supply a while back , and since then the supplies have almost totally dried up.
As cars are painted in a different way nowadays there will never be any Fordite once current supplies run out.
That  really  WILL be it!

This pendant is made with USA Fordite - from the paint shops in Detroit.

This is a truly unique necklace and with a design I have NEVER made before.
It consists of two fordite cabochon settings on separate silver settings that I have then connected with sterling jump rings
This means that the necklace has a kinetic aspect as the settings are free to move and catch the light

The Fordite cabs measure 2cm and 1.5cm across and the full height of the necklace is 4cm

I have also made an unique snake like bail setting on the back where the wire forming the bail coils around on the back of the top bezel.

The pendant is strung from an 20 inch Sterling silver snake chain and sent in a lovely black, velvet lined jewellery box.
and is complete with a signed certificate of authenticity.
