Small Bismuth Crystal - A Stunning Thing To Hold

This is an absolutely gorgeous  Bismuth Crystal.

While laboratory grown - these are still natural objects, and they really are stunningly beautiful.

If you want a talking point for a desk or window ledge this could be the one!

The crystal measures 2.4cm across at it's widest point-   and will be sent bagged-  and labelled - and complete with a superb little signed certificate of authenticity ( example pictured)

----------------------------

Bismuth is a native semi-metal element; however, it is rarely found in nature in its elemental form.

The unique pseudocubic hopper crystals that are characteristic of laboratory Bismuth can be found in only the rarest natural Bismuth specimens. Pair these "stairstep" crystals with the natural iridescent metallic yellow, blue, magenta, purple, and green hues that are due to the natural tarnishing of the specimen, and you have a real attention-getter (especially for kids)!

Some interesting facts.

The atomic number of Bismuth is 83
The atomic weight of Bismuth is 208.98
The molar mass of Bismuth is 208.98 g/mol
Bismuth has 83 electrons
Bismuth was discovered in 1753
The melting point of Bismuth is 271.3 º C
The boiling point of Bismuth is 1560±5 º C

VERY COLLECTABLE!

Fulgurites -Created By A Bolt Of Lightning!

This is a fantastic piece of genuine Fulgurite.

This Fulgurite was found in the Sahara Desert in Northern Africa-  and is guaranteed genuine.

You will receive one of the boxed Fulgurites -
They all measure roughly 3cm
BOXED AND LABELLED

My UK buyers may not be familiar with a Fulgurite - as they are not often seen in the UK.
Basically - it is the result of a lightning strike on an area of sand.
When the lightning bolt hits sand - the power of the bolt travels deep into the sand and fuses the sand into a molten tube of glass.
This tube then solidifies pretty quickly but leaves the shape of the lightning behind.
These are only small pieces, but a larger piece can look almost like a tree or plant, with radiating branches and twigs.

Fulgurites are often found in the deserts of Northern Africa by meteorite hunters looking for meteorites.
It is rare to find large fulgurites - and even rarer for them to be extracted from the ground intact.
They are delicate objects and often broken in the extraction process .

I haven't sold any Fulgurites for 2 or 3 years and this is one of a small batch I have to offer.

Genuine Iridium Sample - AN ULTRA RARE ELEMENT

This is an item that I have been trying to source for several years.
When the offer finally came I was really excited at having it to offer my customers.

Iridium really is one of the rarest elements on Earth
Less than 30 tonnes of it are mined every year -making it MUCH rarer than Diamonds or gold.

The interesting link to both fossils AND meteorites is that while Iridium is incredibly rare on Earth - it is 50 times more common in meteorites.
The presence in the ground of Iridium was one of the things that helped identify the meteorite impact that is thought to have wiped out the Dinosaurs 65 Million Years ago.
( check out my KT Boundary samples as these are from that very layer!)

This is only a small sample - and contains a gem jar of tiny fragments of Iridium weighing a total of 30 Milligrams sealed in a gem jar
Will be sent labelled and with a signed certificate of authenticity.
